What's the difference between Premium, Mid-Range and Budget tyres?
Premium Tyres
Premium tyres are manufactured using advanced technology and high-quality materials. They offer superior performance, handling, braking and durability, making them an excellent choice for drivers seeking the best possible performance and longevity.
Mid-Range Tyres
Mid-range tyres provide a balance between performance and affordability. They offer reliable grip, comfort and durability at a more accessible price point.
Budget Tyres
Budget tyres are a cost-effective option for drivers looking for dependable everyday performance. All tyres sold by TyreBox meet UK and European safety standards.
What's the difference between Summer, Winter and All-Season tyres?
Summer Tyres
Designed for warmer temperatures, summer tyres provide excellent grip, handling and braking performance in both dry and wet conditions.
Winter Tyres
Winter tyres are designed for cold weather, snow and ice. Their softer rubber compounds remain flexible in low temperatures, improving traction and safety.
All-Season Tyres
All-season tyres combine the characteristics of summer and winter tyres, providing year-round performance without the need for seasonal tyre changes.
Tyre Safety
What is the legal tyre tread depth in the UK?
The legal minimum tread depth in the UK is:
1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre and around the entire circumference.
For optimal safety and performance, many experts recommend replacing tyres once tread depth reaches 3mm.
What tyre pressure should I use?
The correct tyre pressure for your vehicle can usually be found:
- Inside the driver's door frame
- Inside the fuel filler flap
- In your vehicle handbook
Maintaining the correct tyre pressure helps improve fuel economy, tyre life, handling and braking performance.
Should tyres be replaced in pairs?
Yes. When replacing tyres, it is generally recommended to replace them in pairs on the same axle. This helps maintain balanced handling, braking performance and overall vehicle stability.
Commercial & Van Tyres
What does the "C" mean on a tyre?
The letter "C" at the end of a tyre size indicates that it is a Commercial Vehicle Tyre designed for vans, light commercial vehicles and vehicles carrying heavier loads.
For example:
215/75R16C
The "C" identifies the tyre as a reinforced commercial tyre with a higher load-carrying capacity.
How are commercial tyre sizes different?
Commercial tyres are designed to carry heavier loads and withstand more demanding use than standard passenger car tyres. They typically feature:
- Stronger sidewalls
- Higher load ratings
- Increased durability
- Enhanced stability when carrying cargo
